PTQ Weekend

The PTQ, short for Pro Tour Qualifier, is coming up this Sunday (31st).

It’s a relatively big deal to do well in and if I win it, which the odds are against me, I qualify for the Pro Tour of Magic (duh), which even being on is an accomplishment.

 

It’s a long grueling day of competitive Magic, which I’m getting into more and more as I get better. While, I like staying in the shell that is casual Friday events, I can always dream of doing better. This is my first constructed, build your own deck and play it, that I have been too in awhile, mostly because not being able to afford the rising costs of Magic cards. The deck I’m playing is a friend of mine and I have have tested it against a gauntlet of mainstream decks to prepare myself as best I can. This is also my first PTQ that I’m going into with a DCI rating of over 1700, The DCI rating system keeps track of players and how well their doing, this also doubles as a reward incentive program for playing in more events. Every event that you win gains (or subtracts) from your total a variable amount based on your opponents number and the K-Value of the event.

 

But aside from the information that affects the two, and only two people that read my blog. I can only hope to garner wishes of luck, if you care enough to send them. I will be posting a detailed report written, hopefully on-site if I’m diligent enough and will seem like a foreign language to those who no little or nothing about the game other than that it’s expensive to play.

 

As long as I get a good nights sleep in the hotel and a decent breakfast in the morning I should be fine

My goal is set to do better than 3-2, 3 match wins and 2 match loses. Once a player gets to two match loses, it is considered that he/she is out of the tournament

Home Alone

I recently opted out of going to the beach with my brother and mom. My reasons are that I often don’t get a lot of enjoyment out of sitting on the beach or swimming in the water, especially since it’s ice-cold or full of jellyfish, and most of the tourist attractions there that are fun cost a lot of money, which I don’t have.

I figure, why not just stay home alone, rent some movies/games, hang out with friends and not be bugged by my family.

 

I’ll see how it works out
